banner I have been a Lego League coach since 2007. This year, I wanted to document the season to give rookie coaches a resource to help them through to competition. The process can be intense, but it can also be a lot of fun for you and your team.

I hope to cover enough through my posts, but if I leave anything out, please feel free to leave a comment, or contact me.

Nature’s Fury Mission Models

Author: fllCoach | Files under The Game

The Nature’s Fury challenge isn’t officially released until August 27th, but many of us have already received the field kits.

My team put ours together this week. We took our best guess at where the models go. A lot of them were pretty obvious by the decorations on the mat and others fit perfectly within the black outlines. The one that really confused us was the big model at the bottom right corner of our board. We couldn’t find a spot for it and it doesn’t even stand by itself.

Note that all of the pieces are separated in bags by model this year. A model may need more than one bag. They are all numbered. That was a HUGE help and cut our build time in half. We broke into four pairs with one person by themselves and we finished in about 2 and a half hours.

Be very careful to use the right pieces in the right places. My 8 year old son was helping and put a 3 stud axle where a 5 stud axle should have gone and had the 5 stud left over when he needed the 3 stud axle. It wasn’t until I looked at the instructions that I figured out what happened. Here are the pieces we had left over after all the models were built.

I don’t know about you, but we can’t wait until August 27th!
